Terms of Service
Last updated: June 13, 2026
Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Wilder ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of Wilder, including visitors who browse or generate plans without creating an account.
Geographic Scope
Wilder is intended for use by residents of the United States. The Service is operated from the United States and is governed by US law as described in the Dispute Resolution section below.
Users outside the United States may access the Service but do so entirely at their own risk and are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations. Wilder makes no representations that the Service is appropriate, legally compliant, or available in other locations.
The Service is currently available in English only.
What Wilder Is
Wilder is an AI-powered trip planning tool that generates suggested itineraries, gear checklists, emergency contact information, and planning recommendations for outdoor adventures including hiking, camping, overlanding, and road trips. The Service also includes trip journals, a gear locker, and publicly shareable trip plan links. Wilder is intended for informational and planning purposes only.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Wilder, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Wilder does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account without verifiable parental consent, we will delete their account and associated data promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information to Wilder should contact us at feedback@wilderadventure.com.
Users under 18 should use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
User Accounts
Creating an account is optional. You can use Wilder to generate plans without signing in, though an account is required to save trips, access your gear locker, write journal entries, and use certain other features.
If you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information when registering
- Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with others
- Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
- Not impersonate any other person or use an account that is not yours
- Notify us promptly at feedback@wilderadventure.com if you believe your account has been compromised
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that are used for misuse or abuse of the Service.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to Wilder — including trip details, notes, journal entries, gear lists, and saved plans ("Your Content").
By submitting content to Wilder, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and use Your Content solely as necessary to provide and improve the Service. We do not sell your content or use it for purposes unrelated to operating Wilder.
You are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of content you submit. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.
Shared Plans
Wilder allows you to generate a publicly shareable link for a trip plan. When you create a shared link, that plan becomes accessible to anyone who has the link — including people who are not Wilder users — for up to 90 days.
Before sharing a plan publicly, you should:
- Remove or avoid including your precise home address, personal phone number, or other sensitive personal information
- Keep in mind that shared links may be forwarded, screenshotted, or cached by others
Wilder is not responsible for the information you choose to make publicly accessible through shared plan links.
Intellectual Property
Wilder and its original content — including the application, software, design, branding, logos, and original written content — are owned by Wilder and protected by applicable intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership rights in the Service or its underlying technology.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for its intended purpose as described in these Terms.
Feedback and Suggestions
We welcome feedback. If you send us bug reports, feature requests, suggestions, or other ideas about Wilder, you grant us a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use that feedback in any way — including incorporating it into the Service — without any obligation to compensate you or treat it as confidential.
User Conduct and Prohibited Uses
You agree to use Wilder only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Attempt to circumvent generation limits, save limits, rate limits, or other usage restrictions
- Use bots, scripts, automated tools, or other non-human means to access the Service
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, replicate, or extract the underlying software, prompts, or algorithms that power Wilder
- Submit false, misleading, harmful, or deceptive content
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws
- Attempt to access, view, or modify another user's account, trips, or data
- Attempt to inject malicious or manipulative instructions into AI generation prompts
- Use the Service in a way that could damage, overload, or impair the platform or interfere with other users' access
Violations of this section may result in immediate account suspension or termination.
AI-Generated Content
Wilder uses artificial intelligence — specifically Anthropic's Claude API — to generate trip plans, itineraries, gear checklists, campsite suggestions, route recommendations, permit information, and emergency contact information.
AI-generated content may be incorrect, incomplete, outdated, unsafe, or misleading. The AI has no access to real-time trail conditions, road closures, weather, permit availability, or emergency service databases. Output varies between requests and should never be followed without independent verification.
Wilder does not guarantee that any generated content is accurate, safe, suitable, or fit for any particular purpose. Treat AI-generated plans as a starting point for your own research — not a definitive guide.
Not for Emergency Use
Wilder is not an emergency tool. Do not use it for emergency navigation, emergency response, survival decisions, or any real-time safety decision in the field.
Emergency contact information, hospital addresses, ranger station phone numbers, search and rescue contacts, and similar safety-critical information generated by Wilder are produced by AI and may be inaccurate, outdated, or completely wrong. Phone numbers change. Agencies restructure. Facilities close. AI cannot be trusted as a real-time source for emergency resources.
Before departing on any trip, verify all emergency contacts, rescue resources, and hospital locations through official sources — including the relevant land management agency, local sheriff's office, or official government websites.
In a real emergency: call 911 immediately. Use a satellite communicator, Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), or other dedicated emergency device. Do not rely on a web app or AI-generated contact list in a backcountry emergency.
Your Responsibility for Safety
Outdoor activities including overlanding, hiking, camping, backpacking, and off-road driving involve serious inherent risks, including serious injury or death. By using Wilder, you acknowledge these risks and accept sole responsibility for the safety of yourself and any members of your group.
Before and during any trip, you are solely responsible for:
- Honestly assessing your own skills, fitness, experience, and physical limitations
- Evaluating current weather, road conditions, trail difficulty, and route accessibility
- Obtaining all required permits and complying with applicable land use rules
- Carrying appropriate safety equipment, navigation tools, first aid supplies, and emergency gear
- Developing a personal emergency plan, including designated out-of-trip emergency contacts
- Sharing your full itinerary — including destination, route, and expected return time — with a trusted person before you leave
- Making all real-time judgment calls about whether to proceed, turn around, or change plans based on actual conditions
- Verifying all information with official sources and the relevant land management authority before departure — including the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and relevant state agencies
Wilder does not assume any responsibility for outcomes resulting from use of generated plans, including injury, death, property damage, vehicle damage, or any other harm arising from trips planned using the Service.
Not Professional Advice
Nothing on Wilder constitutes professional outdoor guiding, safety, medical, legal, or financial advice. Wilder is a planning aid, not a substitute for proper training, experience, a licensed guide, or direct consultation with the relevant land management authority.
No Guarantee of Accuracy
Trip plans, route suggestions, campsite information, road conditions, permit requirements, gear recommendations, and all other content generated by Wilder are produced by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Wilder makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any generated content.
Always verify road conditions, access, permits, and campsite availability directly with the relevant land management agency before departure.
Beta and Experimental Features
Wilder may include features marked as beta, experimental, or otherwise in early development. These features may be incomplete, contain errors, behave unexpectedly, or be changed or removed at any time without notice. Use of any experimental feature is at your own risk.
Service Availability
We aim to keep Wilder available and working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available service. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances outside our control.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice. Wilder is not liable for any interruption, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
Payments
Wilder may offer paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases in the future. No paid features currently exist. If and when paid features are introduced, the specific pricing, payment terms, refund policy, renewal terms, and cancellation process will be clearly disclosed at the time of purchase.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Wilder and its owner shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind — including but not limited to personal injury, death, property damage, vehicle damage, lost data, lost profits, or damages resulting from reliance on any AI-generated content — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the extent any liability is found notwithstanding the above, Wilder's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the total amount you paid to Wilder in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wilder and its owner from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the Service; your violation of these Terms; content you submit to the Service; any outdoor, travel, or recreational activity you undertake; or your reliance on any AI-generated itinerary, gear list, emergency contact information, campsite recommendation, or route suggestion.
Copyright and DMCA
If you believe that content on Wilder infringes your copyright, please contact us at feedback@wilderadventure.com with a description of the claimed infringement, the specific location of the content on the Service, and your contact information. We will investigate and respond to valid claims promptly.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, misused the Service, attempted to circumvent usage limits or security measures, or used the Service for any unlawful purpose. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including limitations of liability, indemnification, and intellectual property rights — will continue to apply after any termination.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Wilder after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, stop using the Service.
Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Privacy
Your use of Wilder is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we retain it, and how you can make requests about your data.
California residents should refer to the Privacy Policy for information about your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
